Kia has shown that it can make a capable and attractive sedan with high-priced models like the beautiful K5 and the exciting Stinger, so it’s not an impossible task.
Is the Forte able to capture the same magic at the lower end of its price range? The Forte brings a sleek design, an impressive list of standard equipment, and impressive fuel economy to the table. However, the base 2.0-liter engine is underpowered, and the 201-horsepower turbocharged motor is a significant price increase. The Kia Forte sedan, on the other hand, is a contender in a fiercely competitive category.
Kia Forte GT 2024 Redesign
The all-new restyle of the 2024 Kia Forte makes it considerably more enticing to look at. The GT and GT-line models include a chrome-finished grille with GT logos and brighter LED headlights, and dual-LED strips up front. There’s a palpable difference in the width of the tiger-nose grille compared to the outgoing generation. The Forte exudes ambition and refinement as it proudly displays the new Kia emblem. The LED fog lamps are arranged diagonally on the lower fascia, with a big aperture at the bottom.
Because of the streamlined bodyline, this vehicle performs better than ever before in dynamic efficiency. The Forte is shorter than other small sedans in its class when viewed from the side. We appreciate Kia’s decision to keep the ventilation system’s tactile controls since this makes adjusting the settings on the go a breeze. The instrument cluster’s conventional, easily readable dials follow the same reasonable approach. Dual-zone climate control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a tilt/telescoping steering column are standard on higher-end models. In contrast, cloth seats and essential air conditioning are included in lower-end models.
Black woven fabric seats, a polyurethane steering wheel, and a PVC gear shift knob are included on the base model. The LXS adds a soft-touch dash and soft-touch upper/center door panels to the cloth seats of the LX model. With a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel and a leather-wrapped gear shift lever, the GT Line is a nice upgrade. The black synthetic Sofino leatherette/cloth trim contrasts with white stitching on this level. You receive a 1.6L turbo-4 engine paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox with the GT model. The 203 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque in this engine are impressive. The front wheels are the only ones powered. The Forte isn’t as fun to drive as some of its competition. Even with a more robust suspension configuration, the Forte sways all over the place as soon as you hit the bumpy road. The vehicle’s rear end will slam into the ground at any speed.
The linked torsion beam in the rear axle of the lower trims is replaced by a multi-link suspension in the GT, which is adjusted for sportier driving conditions. As for commuting, the standard engine is more than adequate, clocking in at an efficient 16.4 secs for the quarter-mile sprint and an impressive 8.2 secs for zero to sixty miles per hour.
