What’s Different in 2025?

The Kia EV5 is a brand-new car that will go on sale for the first time in 2025. Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 changed how incentives work for EVs sold in the U.S. so that they won’t be sold there. It will be sold in China, South Korea, Canada, and Mexico. The EV5 and Kia’s other new electric vehicles share the same 800-volt electricity design. This lets the EV5 charge quickly and efficiently. The EV5 also has a boxy, squared-off shape that looks like the famous Telluride SUV, but the lights are smaller and look more futuristic. As an electric SUV, the EV5 will go up against the Ford Mustang Mach E, the Nissan Ariya, and the Volkswagen ID.4.

Design: Exterior and Interior

The EV5‘s appearance is striking and unique, with a big front bumper that doesn’t have a hood and small triangular headlights that look hidden in the corners. The side profile is sharp and powerful, with wheel arches sticking out and a top slopes down. The back is rough and robust, with thin LED headlights across the trunk. The EV5 will come with cool wheels, like triangle three-spoke rims that look sick.

The EV5’s interior is just as impressive. The dashboard is simple and modern, with three screens: a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch navigation touchscreen, and a 5.0-inch climate control touchscreen. The cabin is big and comfy, made of eco-friendly materials like plant-based leather and recycled plastic. There will also be some extras that can be added to the EV5, like massage seats and a built-in cooler for drinks. There will be a front bench seat in some areas for the EV5 that can fit up to six people or be used by the driver and a passenger to cuddle up together.

Powertrain

Among the EV5, there will be a single-motor rear-wheel drive model with 215 horsepower and a 64-kWh battery pack, a dual-motor all-wheel drive model with 308 horsepower and an 88-kWh battery pack, and a GT-Line model with more power and better speed. In some countries, Kia says the EV5 can go up to 500 kilometers (310 miles) on a single charge. However, this will rely on the size of the battery and the driving mode. The EV5 will also be able to fast charge, which can fully charge the battery in less than 20 minutes and add up to 80% more power.
