2024 New Kia Soul GT Line, Engine, InteriorThe Soul has outlasted the Honda Element, Nissan Cube, and Scion xB for toaster-shaped vehicles. It now competes against more classically styled subcompact crossovers such as the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Jeep Renegade, and Kia Seltos, although it hasn’t succumbed to their proportions. It’s still a unique cube, and we think it’s so cool that we granted it an Editors’ Choice award. The Soul comes standard with a 147-hp four-cylinder engine, but Kia now offers a 201-hp turbocharged four, making it even more lively. The boxy design gives ample room for four people to cruise in comfort while also providing a vast cargo area to store their belongings. All-wheel drive isn’t available on the Soul, so you’ll have to explore elsewhere. It also lacks typical driver assistance features.

The Kia Soul is a beloved eccentric with a devoted following among Kia enthusiasts. Even though this market is already packed with nameplates, the Soul stands out because of its eye-catching design. Its spacious interior, fuel-efficient engine, and family-friendly features are noted.

2024 New Kia Soul GT Line Redesign

For the year 2024, the Soul predicts minor changes. Kia’s new futuristic emblem has replaced the old oval-shaped logo. Except for the lowest LX model, which gets an 8.0-inch infotainment display with navigation, all models now get a 10.3-inch infotainment display with navigation (previously 7.0 inches). A technology package, which includes autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring, is available for the LX model. Dual-zone automatic temperature control, push-button start, wireless smartphone charging, and two more USB ports are standard on the S, X-Line, and GT-Line variants. Unfortunately, the manual transmission is no longer available.

Our favorites are the X-Line and GT-Line variants, which start at the same price and give two different interpretations of the Soul’s already eccentric design. The X sports a more rugged appearance with black plastic cladding and special Undercover Green paint. The GT-Line is more sporty with its wheel design, body-color trim, and some bright red external accents. Both cars have automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic alert, all of which are standard.

Interior

The Kia Soul’s interiors may have minor cosmetic enhancements, primarily in technology. The cabin has a contemporary design that appeals to the tastes of its target audience. The room isn’t overflowing with abundant materials, but there are a few visual clues that look fantastic. This 5-seater comes standard with cloth upholstery, but synthetic leather can also be added. The front seats are slightly elevated for enhanced visibility, and the cushions are comfortable.

The driver’s seat can be electronically changed in up to ten ways on higher models. Surprisingly, the cabin is roomy for a small crossover utility vehicle, seating up to five people. However, we recommend transporting only four people so the backseat passengers’ shoulders do not rub together. Inside the large front compartment, two 6-foot passengers will feel at ease. In both rows of the cabin, there is enough room for passengers. Overall, the interior of the Soul is modest but appealing.

Engine

For the Soul, you can choose between two engines. Except for the Turbo, all models are powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The 2.0-liter engine produces 145 horsepower and 132 lb-feet of torque, identical to the Hyundai Kona. When the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine runs, the message sends out 201 horsepower and 195 pounds-feet of torque to the wheels. This year, the base model LX loses its six-speed manual transmission, and all trims up to EX get the same CVT automatic transmission.

The Turbo engine is well worth the extra money, as it increases the Soul’s eagerness to the point that it outperforms several competitors in the sector. The dual-clutch transmission isn’t remarkably polished, but it excellently blends into traffic and shifts fast and precisely. Both engines have advantages. However, in terms of acceleration and general fun, the turbo triumphs. It’s simply a shame behind the highest trim level’s paywall.

2024 New Kia Soul GT Line Price and Release Date

One of the Soul’s primary selling points is its low price. The Kia Soul LX is available at a starting price of $19,190. The Soul is significantly less expensive than the Kona’s entry-level SE model at this price point. The S will set you back $21,490, while the GT-Line will charge you $22,590. The Kia Soul X-Line is the same price as the latter, while the EX, the second-highest grade, will set you back $23,490. The Turbo’s price soars compared to the others, but at $27,790, it’s still a bargain. The $1,175 destination fee is not included in any of these prices.
