2024 Kia Soul Automatic, Dimension, Availability – The features of the Kia Soul 2024 have changed this year. From the S trim onwards, the vehicle will feature the brand’s new logo and a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, while the base LX trim will get an 8-inch touchscreen. The LX trim also gets the new Technology package, adding more driver aids. Some previously optional comfort options, including dual-zone automated climate control and wireless charging, are now standard on the S, GT-Line, and X-Line variants.
The Soul starts at $19,190 and comes with the same engines as before: a 147-hp inline-4 and a 201-hp turbo-4. Unfortunately, the manual transmission is no longer available. The Soul’s cabin is large and tech-filled, with a good list of modern driving aids. The Hyundai Kona, the Honda HR-V, the Subaru Crosstrek, and a slew of other compact crossovers fight against the Soul.
Kia Soul 2024 Redesign
The 2024 Kia Soul comes in six trim levels: LX, S, GT-Line, X-Line, EX, and Turbo. The Soul is a modern car with a futuristic appearance thanks to gloss black accents and thin headlights. The elegant, tiny city car seemed to be on the verge of transforming into a Decepticon at any minute. Only the GT-Line, EX, and Turbo get a power sunroof, while the apex trim gets LED headlights. The base model has 16-inch steel wheels, the S has 16-inch alloy wheels, the EX has 17-inch alloy wheels, and the GT-Line, X-Line, and Turbo trims have 18-inch alloy wheels. The Turbo trim is also the only one with LED headlights and fog lights and a unique center-exit exhaust.
When it comes to size, the Soul competes with the Hyundai Kona, which, despite its size, is still on the small side. The Kia measures 165.2 inches in length, 63 inches in height, and 70.9 inches in width from nose to tailgate. The size of the wheelbase is 102.4 inches. A ground clearance of 6.7 inches ensures it won’t struggle on harsher terrain if you routinely take the route less traveled. The Soul has a curb weight of 2,844 pounds at its lowest and 3,036 pounds at its heaviest in Turbo trim.
The interior of the small Kia is delightful and pretty impressive in terms of quality, which is yet another area where the Soul catches the hearts of many shoppers. You wouldn’t expect a car at this price point to have an interior of this quality, yet the Soul uses suitable materials and has some great modern technology. Its boxy shape allows for plenty of inside room, and the interior design is significantly more flowing and rounder than the outside would suggest. Is it opulent? Not at all. Compared to its main competitors, the Soul’s interior is very outstanding.
The Kia Soul SUV’s boxiness was undoubtedly a deliberate effort by Kia to provide as much inside space as feasible. The strategy worked, and the Soul is currently one of the roomiest challengers in the market, significantly more so than the Hyundai Kona. The lower grades have comfy front seats, but the Turbo adds extra bolstering for a sportier feel. The EX and Turbo have ten-way power-adjustable seats with two-way lumbar support, whereas all other models have a four-way manually-adjustable passenger seat. Headroom of 39.4 and 39.5 inches front to back (38.3 in front with the sunroof) and legroom of 41.1 and 38.8 inches, respectively, is out of this world for the segment.
The Kia Soul is still available with two powertrain options. The base 2.0L inline-4 engine produces 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. This machine is mated to a CVT transmission, standard in tiny crossovers. The Turbo variant has a 1.6L turbo inline-4 engine that produces 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch automated transmission is paired with this engine. One of the most significant modifications this year has been the discontinuation of the manual gearbox.
The engine does not synchronize properly with the dual-clutch gearbox at low speeds or traffic signals, making the handling jerky. Over irregularities on the road, the suspension makes the ride smooth without feeling mushy. While not world-class, the steering on the Soul has a decent weight to it. It’s speedy and responsive without being overly eager to handle a lot of changes. Despite its boxiness, it doesn’t feel top-heavy, especially while driving around curves.
Kia Soul Release Date and Price in 2024
One of the Soul’s primary selling points is its low price. The Kia Soul LX starts at $19,190 for the base model. The Soul is significantly less expensive than the Kona’s entry-level SE model at this price point. The S will set you back $21,490, while the GT-Line will charge you $22,590. The Kia Soul X-Line is the same price as the latter, while the EX, the second-highest grade, will set you back $23,490. The Turbo’s price soars compared to the others, but at $27,790, it’s still very cheap. The $1,175 destination fee is not included in any of these prices. In the first quarter of 2024, the Kia Soul will be available in showrooms.
