2024 Kia K5 Availability, Colors, Engine – The second-generation 2024 Kia K5 midsize car debuts with a new Kia logo and a slew of new standard amenities. Although the K5’s exterior design is eye-catching, the car’s cost and standard features make it an enticing purchase. Kia’s family sedan, the 2024 K5, starts at $23,690, but the GT variant boasts a 290-horsepower engine. A 10.3-inch touchscreen and wireless device charging are just two of the new additions to the 2024 Kia K5, with which Kia hopes to keep the enthusiasm going. Power-folding outside mirrors, a 360-degree camera, and front parking sensors are now standard on the GT or EX trims.
In addition to the widgets and feel-good features of the new Kia K5, the GT model of the K5 has a fantastic guarantee. In its first year on the market, Kia sold over 30,000 units of the 2021 model, despite the 2024 K5 having a newer name in the midsize sedan class. Old favorites like the Accord and Toyota Camry continue to dominate the market.
2024 Kia K5 Redesign
The 2024 Kia K5 is one of the class’s most stylish competitors, even though the midsize sedan market isn’t known for drawing longing glances. Although it’s longer and lower than the Optima, which it replaces, its appeal resides in the more delicate features. The larger tiger grille and dramatic LED DRLs on the almost-angry face and the full-width illumination at the rear look spectacular. With LED headlights, alloy wheels, and a Hyper Silver front grille on the base LX model, the GT trim level is more upscale, with custom wheels and parts shared with the GT-Line. Certain trims come with a panoramic sunroof and LED fog lamps.
Most midsize sedans look their best in the brightest colors, but the Kia K5 looks stunning in Gravity Gray and Ebony Black. In addition to Ebony Black, you can choose between Passion Red Tintcoat or Everlasting Silver. Glacial White Pearl will cost you an additional $445, and you can only use any other color with a more expensive trim to complete the look. Crystal Beige and Gravity Gray are available on the LXS, while Wolf Gray and Sapphire Blue are available on the GT-Line. Even though the color scheme has enough variety, it would have been better if Kia had not limited the use of specific colors to certain parts of the car.
Interior
The Kia K5 of 2024 builds on the success of the Kia Optima by offering a refined interior with plenty of legroom and storage space. Everywhere you look, you’ll see high-quality materials being used in the construction of this model. Using high-quality materials like wood accents on the dashboard and doors enhances the overall look and feel of the vehicle. Gloss black plastic and an overall horizontal shape evoke memories of more recent models like the Stinger and K900.
Additionally, the interior of the K5 includes several high-end amenities, like ambient interior lighting, heated and ventilated front chairs, a panoramic sunroof, and a wireless charging pad. Dashboard vents with horizontal vents are above the floating infotainment display. Underneath the vents, the climate controls are easily accessible. An updated steering wheel is also included in the K5 package.
Engine
A simple, normally aspirated engine in the Optima’s lowest K5 model has been replaced by a 1.6-liter turbocharged one that is quieter and more responsive to the driver. Most grades are equipped with this 180-horsepower, 195-pound-foot torque engine. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes standard with this model. With 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, the GT outperforms the Honda Accord’s most potent engine. The eight-speed “wet” dual-clutch transmission developed in-house by Kia enhances this model’s athletic character. Is it capable of swift and smooth transitions?
Due to delays in the GT model’s arrival, we couldn’t test the 1.6-liter solid base engine, but we did try two varieties of it. Compared to Honda, Nissan, and Toyota’s base models, the engine doesn’t feel like a monster. The eight-speed automatic transmission is one of the K5’s unique selling points. Compared to a CVT, the new ‘box shifts more smoothly and rapidly. Although the K5 doesn’t come standard with a manual transmission, the eight-speed automatic offered by Kia is more fun to drive than the CVTs found in its competition.
The release date and price of the Kia K5 in 2024 have been announced.
The LX, in perspective, the Honda Accord, and Toyota Camry both start at $23,490. The LXS costs $24,490; the GT-Line costs $25,390; and the EX costs $27,990. There is a $30,490 GT at the top of the range, which is significantly less expensive than the fully loaded Accord or Camry. It costs $2,100 more to upgrade from FWD to AWD on the LXS model, but it also gets heated seats. On the other hand, the GT-Line model adds the Premium Package for $3,700. All of these prices do not include Kia’s $965 destination charge.
